• Fellowship at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, University of Maryland, Baltimore.
• He did a new fellowship as Transplant Surgeon in the Clinic Hospital, University of Barcelona, in Barcelona.
• He returned to Monterrey, México where he actually is a transplant surgeon of the Transplant Service at the University Hospital.
• Has been working at CHRISTUS Muguerza Group since 2002 as part of the Transplant Service.

Notable Professional Achievements/Honors:

Dr. Zapata has published more than 15 papers in national and international medicine journals, and recently finished a doctoral degree in Medicine at the University of Nuevo León.
