From 1996 to 1998, he completed fellowships at Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Medical Sciences
and Nutrition in the diabetes and lipid metabolism department, in Mexico City; Biomedical Research National Institute of Universidad Autónoma de México, in México City as well.
From 2003 to 2006 he continued his residency in Nephrology in the Hospital Universitario, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. He did a new fellowship as Nephrologist and basic-experimental animals models transplant, chronic allograft nephropaty investigations in the Barcelona Clinic division of Transplant and Nephrology in Barcelona, Spain.

2006 to 2008. He returned to Monterrey, México where he actually is staff member of the Department of Nephrology
at the Hospital Universitario.
